AHA! Moment: Discovery Approach for Students

Spoon feeding the students is a big "NO!" right now during the 21st century learning. This very "selfish" act of the teachers destroys the momentum of students in the formulation and construction of meaning for themselves.

For this millennium the trend is the Discovery Approach whereby student clearly seeks the answer to the problem and prides himself for this. This situation is often regarded as the 'AHA! Moment'. A tick of idea denotes the students' engagement in the discussion of the teacher. The students therefore felt ownership for the "learning' done and this helps in the permanency of the learning. Everytime he/she demands immediate need of this information, he/she can easily solicit the said info as the schema becomes more permanent.

Teachers' role thereby should only be confined as the facilitator, leader and clarifier. If ever students are going astray the path, he/she should lead them back. The teacher can provide some keynotes to provide also as scaffolding if ever students are having a hard time in the quest for correct meaning/answer. But never shall teachers give the in tutu answer wholly.

This approach in conglomeration helps make students active participants of the learning process and limits teachers "talking" during the educative process.
